Articulation Sound Stations

Speech sound production, auditory discrimination, motor planning
Best for ages 3–8
Materials: Index cards, small objects around the house, a paper bag
  1. Choose 1–2 sounds your child is working on with their SLP (e.g., the "S" sound or "R" sound)
  2. Go on a "sound hunt" β€” find 5 objects around the house that start with that sound
  3. Practice saying each word clearly: say it slowly, then fast, then in a sentence
  4. Play "Did I say it right?" β€” say the word correctly and incorrectly, have them identify which
  5. Celebrate every correct attempt β€” accuracy builds through repetition plus positive feedback
Carry 5 picture cards of target words in your bag. Practice during car rides, waiting rooms, anywhere. 5 minutes daily beats 30 minutes on weekends.

03

Conversational turn-taking, topic maintenance, asking follow-up questions
Materials: A deck of cards (or dice), conversation topic list (write 10–15 topics)
  1. Write 10 conversation topics on slips of paper (school, favorite food, pets, a movie you saw)
  2. Player 1 draws a topic and talks about it for 30–60 seconds
04

Reading Comprehension Retell

Listening comprehension, narrative sequencing, vocabulary in context
Materials: A picture book or short story (5–10 minutes to read aloud)
